DESCRIPTION OF THE STEP TRAINEESHIP PROVIDER

The IT Law Programme of University of Tartu School of Law is driven by the high demand for IT Law specialists in the private and public sector, as well as by the ambitions of Estonia as an IT country and a forerunner in innovative digital initiatives in Europe and beyond (cf. e-estonia.com).

The IT Programme coordinates MA and PhD studies in IT law and conducts research on secure e-services, artificial intelligence and law, data protection and international cybersecurity.

The University of Tartu (est. 1632) is the largest higher education and research centre in Estonia. It ranks among the top 2% of the world's best universities (Times Higher Education World University Ranking). Moreover, UT operates the most influential School of Law in Estonia. According to the QS World University Rankings law studies, UT ranked 251-300 place.

The tasks of the Trainee include inter alia conducting research and assisting researchers in the fields of IT law, IP related to IT, e-services, data protection and privacy, AI, cybersecurity, etc.

When applying for the traineeship at the IT Law Programme, please pay particular attention to the quality of your letter of motivation! It should specify:
1) why you are interested in learning more and contributing to the
development of the field of Information Technology Law;
2) which particular skills you bring along for your work in the IT Law Programme in Estonia.

Please note that we are flexible with the starting time of the traineeship, as long as the 2-month duration ends by 28 August 2020. We suggest that the traineeship does not fall on the months of July and August due to vacation times, however flexibility is possible.
