Island Advice Centre (IAC) is a pro bono organisation situated on the vibrant Isle of Dogs, and it helps the residents of the London Borough of Tower Hamlets with securing their legal rights with the aim of improving the standards of their everyday life. Access to justice and advocacy are at the core of IAC; the lawyers work to help residents to stay above the poverty line and to empower them to deal with their respective situations. The work done by IAC focuses specifically on welfare rights, housing, and debt issues.

The trainees are expected to, inter alia:
- Support and shadow the lawyers of IAC with cases dealing with housing, welfare rights, and debts;
- Observe appeal hearings, and being involved in case recording; and
- Write letters and other legal documents.
Dependent on the skills and eagerness, a trainee may attend client meetings and interviews.

The trainees are selected to work specifically with a specialised lawyer of IAC. Please highlight in your application any skills, experience and enthusiasm you have which make you THE suitable trainee working in any of the key areas of IAC' activity.
Trainees' travel expenses are covered and lunch is provided during the working days.
Working time is Monday-Friday 10:00-16:00.
