GYLA is the voluntary professional union of the lawyers. The major strategic objectives of GYLA are.
1. The protection of human rights, development of the protection mechanisms and ensuring access without discrimination;
2. Raising legal awareness of the society and establishing respect towards the law;
3. Supporting development of an effective, accountable and transparent governance;
4. The development of the qualified, uninterrupted legal education and development of the profession.
For over 24 years GYLA has been the leading human rights protection organization in Georgia, receiving multiple awards for its work – including a nomination for Vaclav Havel Prize, Prize for Support for Equality, etc. Over the two decades of its work, GYLA changed multiple laws, multiple legal practices and provided direct legal benefit to over one million individuals.

The tasks of the STEP Trainee include inter alia conducting research.
Other: The vacancy is unpaid at GYLA due to our internal policy. The STEP Trainee will have to find funding for their living costs.
