The Jerusalem Institute of Justice (JIJ) is a front-line NGO dedicated to cultivating and defending the rule of law, human rights and democracy for all people in the Middle East. JIJ advances human rights and civil justice through legal advocacy in governmental academic and media forums throughout the world as well as in the courts of Israel and the Knesset.

The tasks of the Trainee include inter alia:
- Fact-finding on the field;
- Online and academic research;
- Legal writing of reports and memoranda.
The materials prepared by STEP Trainees have in the past been presented to the International Criminal Court (The Hague, the Netherlands), the European Parliament, the UN Human Rights Council, as well as many other governmental and academic institutions globally.
Interns and STEP Trainees are a vital part of the work done at JIJ. Employees from all over the world dedicate their time to the development of human rights and international legal research.

NOTE: JIJ is capable of hosting 10 STEP Trainees at a time. Please indicate in your motivation letter clearly the period of your availability for the Traineeship to increase your chances of being successfully selected for the Traineeship.
This STEP placement is unpaid due to the legal nature and applicable regulations of the Traineeship Provider. However, the Trainees are provided with public transport tickets covering travel within Jerusalem.
