Having a good understanding (General-level) of EU law is important as the trainee would work within the EU regulatory team based in Brussels. This work mainly includes providing counsel on product standards (safety, health, environment), regulatory compliance approvals (including CE marking) and certain cross-sectoral requirements (e.g. sustainability or due diligence supply chain laws). Aside from EU product regulations, some knowledge of the EU free movement rules may be useful too. Finally, the team is often asked to draft and revise commercial contracts ranging from distribution to supply and manufacturing agreements in different sectors, particularly life sciences.
Whilst prior experience is not an absolute must, it would be good if the trainee has had some experience with contract drafting.
