When does the application period open?

The application period will be opened on the 11th of March 2019, 16:00 CET.

Who can participate in the programme?

Due to the prestige of the STEP programme, it is very important that we provide this opportunity only for our members. This, together with a selection process, is a guarantee of the quality of ELSA trainees. Therefore, only law students, graduates and young lawyers, who are current ELSA members are eligible to apply for our traineeships.

What is the procedure?

Contact your local ELSA group

Contact the ELSA group at your university and find out who is in charge of STEP. Ask the STEP officer to check or help you obtain your ELSA membership, and provide you with more information about STEP, procedure for applying, tips and tricks.

Submit an Online application form

Access the Online Application Form here, or on every individual traineeship page. You can choose up to 3 traineeships from the list. Read carefully all the instructions in the application form, as well as the General Terms of Participation at the end of the form. Have in mind that it is forbidden to contact the traineeship provider on your own prior to selection.

Get your application verified

After you’ve submitted your application, ask the STEP officer of your ELSA group to proceed with the verification of the data contained in the application. Your application will be accepted only after it is checked by the STEP officer of your ELSA group.

After being verified and approved by the STEP officer, the application form that you’ve submitted goes via ELSA International to the STEP traineeship provider, who makes the final selection result. Please note that during the selection process by the traineeship provider, you might be asked to conduct an interview (via phone or Skype). If you got selected by the traineeship provider, you will be notified by e-mail from ELSA International, with further practical instructions. Besides that, selection results will be published on STEP Portal.
